Bernardo De Fresneda Parador

The Paradors in Spain are beautiful ! They are castles, monasteries, convents and hospitals that the state has refurbished into hotels to preserve these historic buildings and create local tourism. They are beautifully appointed and surprisingly affordable. We stayed in one of the two Paradors in Santo Domingo...the Convent of Saint Francis, built in 1535.
If you plan on visiting Spain, we highly recommend you check out the Paradors...we liked it so much we stayed an extra night!

This is the front of our Parador De Fresneda, in Saint Francis Square.

The staff was very helpful & friendly. It was one of the quietest nights sleep
on our trip.

This is our warm, updated, yet historical room...it was very comfy.

One of the walls in the room was an original stone wall...they've done a wonderful job at updating yet keeping it authentic.

I loved the carpet on the stairways...it was all so tastefully done.

The stained glass in our hallway, no detail was left undone.

Two of the restaurants in the Parador.

And last but not least...my sweetheart brought me a poppy he picked on his walk that evening...so pretty.
