I take that back...

In my last post...
I claimed that what I learned from the 30 paintings in 30 days in January
was that painting is not where my passion lay at this space in time...
I may have been a little hasty with that!

The very day I posted that...
I started another series of little paintings
for the month of February...
Fruit & Flower.

Day one...
a bowl of green apples...painted on burlap.
This was my second time painting on burlap...I'm liking it, love the texture.

Day two...
an entry into the DPW
A picture or idea is posted weekly,
and all are welcome to submit their rendition of it.

Day three...
a simple avocado with my favorite orange underpainting.

Day 4...
a mason jar full of radiant ranunculus.
It was a challenge getting just the right pink, salmon color...
still not sure I accomplished it.

Day 5...
Pears hanging out...
I was challenged getting the colors vibrant enough for my liking.

Day 6...
all about the white, and all the colors that go into white.

Day 7...
rounds out the week with another DPW Weekly Challenge...
I chose a pink flowering Crepe Myrtle...
to keep with my Flower theme of this month.

So there you have it...
I guess I was wrong about the painting passion.
I'm thinking passions come is different sizes,
they don't all have to consume you...
sometimes they just add a happy little space of time in your daily life.

In this case...
I look forward to my late afternoon cup of coffee each day,
and to sit at my easel and quietly paint.

It is a happy space in my day.

    1. Thank you so much Carol. The burlap is kinda fun, once I got the hang of it. Of course you can't do too much detail...leaving room for simple & dramatic!

    2. Do you stretch it or just mount it on a board? i need to work on simple and not detail!!!

    3. Hi Carol…
I actually bought them already stretched at Michaels. I remember seeing a huge mural Maxfield Parrish did on burlap years ago and was inspired! More years later I found the panels at Michaels and got around to trying it. My first few attempts were not so great as I was treating it like canvas. Burlap is pretty fuzzie…so this time I gessoed it to hold the fuzz down a bit…worked like a charm. I LOVE the texture!
