Studio lights out...

Lights out for Sally...
at least the 30 painting in 30 days series.

This was a quick painting I did
on the morning of day 30,
painting everyday for the month of January.

As you know if you've been following along...
these are quick little paintings
with my 1946 Teardrop Trailer
Sally
as inspiration.

It was fun, and a great exercise & warm up to start the day.
Thanks for peeking in each day and seeing what I painted,
along with 1400 or more artists from around the world.

Check out the other artists work...

#22 Little Scamp...

Though this is not Sally...
I do have a case of vintage trailer consciousness!

Meaning...
I have my eye open for vintage trailers
and can pick them out of a crowd without even trying!

This is a vintage Scamp Fiberglass trailer,
parked right next to us while camping up in the Sequoias this last fall.
I was sitting out one morning, drinking delicious camp coffee
and sketching this little cutie.

I wasn't feeling much like painting yesterday
( or rather coming up with a new trailer idea to paint )
and came across the sketch.

So I just started adding layers of oil over the sketch...
before you knew it I was having fun painting!

The first painting above is what I did yesterday morning...
by afternoon I decided to add in a few Sequoias.

This little trailer makes me happy...
it was a good painting day.

# 18...a little weird!

Just a little weird!

I wanted to try one of the burlap canvases I had on hand...
they looked way cool and I wanted to experiment.

This was more about the painting surface than the subject or style.

While I love thick juicy paint strokes...this wasn't that much fun.

Or maybe it was just the first time uncomfortableness...

I think I'll try these burlap canvases again...
just for the challenge of it.

#15...A Little Abstract.

I had fun with #15...
I love painting strong blocks of color,
with limited brushstrokes, one stroke per observation.

I enjoyed painting this little daily painting.

Here's Painting #14

I love working with these small canvas's...
only 4"x 4"...
I can hold it in my hand and paint....
love that!

This little trailer is a take off from one of Sally's neighbors,
Jet is the one who really got me excited about buying Sally.

Day 12...Hankies!

Day 12 of this daily painting challenge
is about why I was inspired by Sally...
more than just Sally herself.

Painting #11

Coming up with paintings...
to go along with my teardrop trailer theme for 30 days
is a little more arduous than I thought it would be!

Hoping I don't run out of ideas before the 30 days is up!

Day #9 Painting Everyday!

Here we are on day #9...
though I'm a little challenged!

I've been out of town all week working,
keeping up with my painting a day,
using acrylics instead of my usual oil paints,
having a hard time technically trying to post with my iPad instead of my desktop,
and wondering if I'm going to be able to come up with
another 21 situations to paint Sally in!

It is a painting challenge after all!

This little bird, who is sometimes perched on Sally in my paintings,
is part of the design my daughter in law Lucinda came up with for my logos.
I love the addition...thank you Lu.

Day #8, A little History ...

It was four years ago when I first met Sally...

She was sitting in a lot looking pretty shabby, pretty run down
and pretty darn cute!
