Tale of Three Little Birds...

A visual story of how they came together...

WARNING...many photos!

It all started off with three canvases, three cut out hummingbirds
and scrapes of paper distributed evenly among them.

Once the elements were all chosen, they were glued into place
on the canvases using Golden's matte medium.

After softening the paper edges with aqua and several neutral paint colors,
a Posca white pen and a Pitt artist pen
were used to add in script messages, all about the hummingbird.

In between each layer of papers and inks, a thick coat of heavy matt medium was
added using an artist knife to create an inspired encaustic look.

Each piece has a different leaf added in along with colored inks, more writing,
painted details, a few keys
and one final coat of matt medium...totalling three coats of matt medium.
This gave the pieces a layered misty look to them.

As always...the backs are finished off too.

I thoroughly enjoyed every step of this project...and who doesn't love a little hummingbird?
They invite us to enjoy the sweetness of life.

All three pieces are available in my Etsy shop
