Breaking Free...

Art isn't all fun and games...
sometimes it can be a real struggle!

I started out a week or more ago with two 36"x24"
wood art panels...ready to paint.

After doing busy work in my studio and on my computer and in class...I finally put a few layers of Venetian plaster on them. It's really nice and smooth, a lovely painting surface... also a great way to kill more time when you don't know what to paint!

I finally got around to layering paint colors over the plaster, with the help and guidance of my mentor Kate, I was kinda gettin' in the groove...but still not sure of where I was going with this or what the heck to paint...feeling lost.

It happens...art block!

Just put it out there and let it go, know the right inspiration will show up...hopefully sooner than later.  Sometimes just releasing to the Universe is all that's needed...sound advice from my artist friend Susie Zol.  Help from my art tribe (you know who you all are) is full of encouragement and guidance and certainly key in helping me find my way back.

The Universe answered...FLOWERS!

And why not?  I love flowers, I love painting flowers...my answer was flowers...
they make me really happy...so paint that!

I'm really pleased with how this piece turned out.  It just took a little germinating...
like most flowers...welcomed guidance from my people...
and a lot of freeing myself up to paint what's inside.

I'm working on keeping myself opened up to what comes next...
free to paint what I feel and what makes my heart sing.
