Cool Idea...

There's a separate gallery at Ashton's that exhibits the art of the group of 16 artists mentored by Kate Ashton.  The art in this gallery changes each time the main gallery changes to the current show...once a month!

The mentored artist have a new piece of their work go up each month in this gallery, though sometimes its not easy to tell the art has changed if you're not familiar we each artists work.  So Kate came up with a great idea to keep it fresh and clear that there has been a change in the room.

This month we were all given a piece of canvas that was cut all the exact same size.  We painted whatever we wanted to, knowing they would all be hung exactly the same way.  I think we all enjoyed the challenge of painting on loose canvas and once we were done we rolled them up and dropped them off at the gallery.  All around handy woman and gallery director Kirsten Robers got out her measuring tape, saw, wood planks with a few bolts and constructed a perfect way to hang our canvas tapestries by sandwiching them between two pieces of wood and holding it all together with bolts.

I got a quick peek as they were going up on the wall for the show that opened last weekend on September 21st...the "All Mixed Up" mixed media show.  I then headed out of town for a few weeks so this may be the best I can do for photos.  If I don't add a few of the gallery when its finished and ready for the artist reception...please do come by and take a look at the mentor and the main galleries...really inspiring work!

I feel very fortunate to be part of this mentor group!
This is my tapestry contribution to this show
Flowers Don't Tell...They Show!

In the future we'll be mixing it up and using different and interesting ways to create and show our art in the mentor gallery...
make sure to keep coming back to see what we come up with next!
