Bamboo Powder Room

Did you know bamboo is from the grass family?
How about bamboo's tensile strength is 28,000 per square inch, while steel rates only 23,000 per square inch...
fun bamboo facts.

(my inspiration piece)

Good to know when you're getting ready to paint bamboo.

I worked on the perfect custom canvas prepared by
Rupen at the The Canvas Place.
I'm always so pleased with canvas orders I place with him.

I started out by washing the canvas with black gesso to darken the base.

I took a little short cut by taping off the bamboo stalks for consistency.
While taped off, I painted in my neutral background,
then once I took the tape off
I had the perfect bamboo grove to start working on
defining the varied stalks.

I delivered the bamboo canvas to the clients home and repeated the pattern
on the opposite wall in one of their bathrooms.

Laying it out and painting each stalk individually, no tape this time.

The finished room...simple, clean and looks great
with the green and neutral glass tile surrounds.

Fun job, fun client, fun designer...
loving my job.

If you need a mural, or know someone who does...
let's chat.

  1. Beautiful job, Denise! These would be great as stand alone paintings with frames!
