Exciting times at Ashton Gallery
for teachers + students!
First let me say...
I had no idea I would enjoy teaching so much! At first I was surprised when Kate Ashton asked me if I would be interested in teaching at Art On 30th...and a little nervous! I mean really...I only know what I know and I wasn't sure that would be enough to carry a class. What I've discovered about teaching though, is my excitement and joy when people show up to be creative and either discover or rediscover their love for doing art. And the creative camaraderie that develops between the students...its so fun and energizing to be around.
Teaching and the students keep me wanting to learn more about art for them and from them. So I, along with all the teachers at Art On 30th, spend a lot of time researching, studying and trying new techniques to share in our classes to keep us all interest...and interesting. Turns out...I love teaching...its right up there with doing art!
So this current TAP show on the 2nd floor at Ashton Gallery is all about teachers and students. Each teacher was given the almost impossible task of tapping one student to hang in the gallery alongside their pieces of art. I know for sure this was very tough for all of us...there are many amazing and dedicated students that take our classes. Below is a peek at some of the teacher + student works that will be on exhibit (and for sale) this month at Ashton Gallery.
