YouDoodle

One of my favorite and most used apps...

While you can easily use this app to doodle and draw with the many features it includes...I pretty much use it to check out changes I may want to make in one of my paintings without running the chance of messing things up...playing it safe if you will.  YouDoodle allows me to do that by uploading photos of my painting from my photo library and making changes right on the photo.  If I like it I can then send the doctored up photo from YouDoodle back into my photo library so I have a record of it and make more changes later on.

In the painting below, "The Song And The Sting",  I loved everything about this piece, though felt it was missing something.  I went to YouDoodle and played around with the idea of adding fruit...and then what kind or fruit and what color (see 3 photos above).  I was able to work out the possibilities on the app and make a clear choice that I'm really happy with...soft, transparent oranges...without messing with paint on my canvas to solve it.

There are so many features on YouDoodle...
draw on top of photos / images
blend, brush and fill tool
add text to your photos with many color, design options
over 30 filters and effects

Way too many for me to list...so go here for the full list of features...

I'm working on this 43x43 piece right now,
and with all the time we have with sheltering at home...
I've been cruising along and its coming together quite nicely and easily.

Keep your eyes open...
I'll be posting a video on my YouTube channel this week of me doing this entire painting...

But I wasn't quite sure how I was going to make the three fish, on the gelli print paper I made, fit in.  Rather than struggle with it on the canvas...I uploaded the photo into YouDoodle and made a few adjustments, its clear now I can keep the fish and some of the gelli papers...more importantly make them work with the rest of the painting.
 Thank you YouDoodle.

Student Art

This gem of an app is also working really well for me and my students while we're on this unknown length of time at home.  I want to encourage them to keep painting...so I've created a space for them to share what they're working on and I can add in suggestions...using YouDoodle!

Susan Van Note
Wonderful texture and composition in the finished piece.

 Pat Elkins
A wonderful piece with so many layers and great composition.
Suggestion to add color into the bottom of the piece to integrate it with the painting.

Jean Sagrodnik
A beautiful piece with so many wonderful things going on...
releasing and letting go of some is so hard to do.  Much easier to see the possibilities
with this YouDoodle app.

So now that we have time to sit at home and figure out how to use some of the wonderful apps available to help our art...take advantage of it!
