The GREAT Outdoors...

It's good to be out...while still staying safe.

I'm a bit of a procrastinator, sometimes fly by the seat of my pants, therefore usually writing my blog post the night before it needs to publish.  My blog is the one thing I have stayed committed to keeping on schedule for the five years that I've been doing it...and here I am, last minute posting about what went on this week.  Another way to look at that is it's fresh information, in real time, right off the press!

For many of us, this week was all about opening our country back up...hopefully by taking baby steps until we know its safe to do so.  I had several jobs come to me this week that I felt safe to do...because they were both outside and I would be on my own...still social distancing.  It was wonderful to be out of my studio, painting...feeling the sun and freah air...I was in heaven!

If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook you may have seen these projects already...but here's a quick video review of the week...

The projects were complete with several happy clients...
though I wasn't done with being outside...and...I kinda needed a break from painting.

So back outside into our own tiny yard to make some creative changes.

This 10' ficus tree, that I've had for many, many, many years decided to break out of his pot and go looking for more water...if you know ficus's like we know ficus's...that can be disastrous for pipes.
Sadly, after a few heated discussions on how sad it is to cut down a tree...he had to go.
😞
Though...
in his place we built a potting bench with left over scrapes of wood and old louvered doors that have been hanging around forever waiting for a puropse.
I love working with what we have and not heading off the Home Depot!

As long as we were in the yard...
it was a good time for some summertime freshening up.
It's amazing how such a small yard and patio can take a whole day
to work on...the whole live long day!

A few special details...a pet cemetery, mushrooms from the mushroom capitol of the world Kennet Square Pennsylvania, and one of two bonsai trees I have that were my Dad's.

We love our little yard and patio...just the right size for us...
and our doors are open to them all day long in the summer months.

Tomorrow...
it's back in the studio painting with fresh eyes.
I'm excited to get back to it.

  1. I loved seeing your gorgeous work while listening to the birds chirping. One word that comes to mind when seeing your little yard and patio is "sanctuary." Just lovely, Denise.

    1. Thank you so much Judith...it is a little sanctuary and my studio door is open to it all day so I can step out into it at any time. I am wanting to plant and play a little more in the garden, so it can be a distraction from painting...but sometimes a needed one! Thanks so much for peeking into my world!
