Tear It Up!

Maybe I am a paper hoarder!
😱

And I like it!
😎
Always on the look out for cool papers...
and sometimes it's right in front of you!

I use tracing paper/over wet blue paper shop towels/alla Art2Life palette set up as my painting palette style.  I love that it keeps my acrylic paint wet for days!  Most all the time, the palettes look really wonderful and full of colors that I love...so I hate to throw them away...and I usually don't.  Because I use quality acrylic paints that I know are color fast and archival...these are perfect papers to add into my mixed media art.  I will either run a brush through all the wet paint on my palette and get a really nice color blend...or use them as is.

My paint palette after a recent studio painting day.

The tracing paper is really nice to tear up, separate by colors and
glue back down onto a board with matte medium.

Then I pulled out my favorite tools...Golden Acrylics, oil pastels and my trusty Stabilo pencil.

I added the papers onto 12 x 12 inch boards that were base coated with different colors of venetian plaster,  I let those base colors dictate the colors of my flowers, which were the torn up pieces of my paint palette.  Once those papers were laid down I created the rest of the still life around them, loosely adding in coffee mugs, vases for the flowers, details with pencil, oil pastels and Stabilo marks.

These were really fun to do and I love the looseness of the flowers.  I hang onto all my painting palettes, you never know when you'll need just that piece of colored papers.  I also started sorting and colorizing my papers to store in 1 gallon freezer bags to make it a little easier to find them.

Hope you give this a try...these four are headed over to my website if you want to visit them there, and invite one or two of them into your own home!

    1. Oh My Gosh...it is so easy to become a paper hoarder! Yet it takes me forever to search out the exact piece I need when I'm working on my art. I find it much quicker to find my papers first and then create from that starting point. We just have a love for papers! Thanks for looking in!
