Bigger is better !!!

What I mean to say is... I have a bigger space at Leaping Lotus in Solana Beach...and the extra breathing room is soooo much better!  You remember the little 3x5 space I started with... I could really pack it in!  It was a bit limiting when it came to larger items though, and I needed a motivation to paint, paint, paint more furniture...so what better than extra square footage to fill!
 The original 3x5 foot space

Leaping Lotus cleared a bigger 8x11 space for me...I love a blank canvas!

We painted the floor with a Royal Design stencil

By we...I mean with the help of my lovely assistant & talented daughter in law, Lucinda.

Added a simple stripe to the wall...

my favorite right hand man (and sweetheart) Jim painted shelving we had at home...

and we were set to fill it full of vintage finds and hand painted furniture.

We may be adding even more space in the very near future !
If your in the area, and want to enjoy a nice afternoon of meandering through wonderful shops & grab a bite to eat at one of many delightful eateries...visit
and don't forget to look for my shop in the Leaping Lotus.

Enjoy

Loving Chalk Paint !

Last week I was blogging about getting furniture painted...and so I did get it painted!  Have I mentioned I love Chalk Paint...I know I have on more that one occasion.  It's so nice to work with and the colors are so perfect for all the furniture I'm amassing and working on.  You don't need to prime, and the wax top coats are so luscious!

Here are two of the little dressers/night stands I've wanted to get paint on.  Even though their designs & styles are different, I wanted to give the option of using them together in the same room...possibly as night stands.

 Annie Sloan's chalk Paint featured

And here they are...each making it's own design statement, but easily they work together painted in Duck Egg Blue.

This one has stripes on it's side panels...

...and this one has an old Ralph Lauren stencil pattern I've had for years and have used to death !  I still love it's floral design.

The Duck Egg Blue has a brown tinted wax rubbed over it and buffed out by hand for a really beautiful luster.

They now sit in my new and improved, larger space at Leaping Lotus in Solana Beach...that post will follow shortly.

Just wanted to share the latest...I love painting furniture...it's where my roots are !

Enjoy...

Furniture Bliss...

I've been MIA from blogging lately...seems there are so many creative projects I have my hands in and my mind on, that I had to free myself from sitting at the computer...and I do mean freeing!  Computer doesn't come second nature for me, so it takes me more time than I'm willing, or even have, to give up.

I AM excited about finally getting to the stack of furniture I've been gathering to paint for my new, and larger space at Leaping Lotus.

Today is the day I tackle the stack !!!

A few pieces I painted in the past...

And a treasury I curated over coffee this morning, while gathering up a little inspiration...
