Flipping a finished piece around once or twice,
gives a whole new perspective and meaning to a piece of art.
For me this is one of the magical things about abstract painting.
On more than one occasion I've worked diligently on a painting,
thinking about what it is I'm trying to convey to the viewer,
and what the title might be.
Above are layered pieces of paper used as the base of this mixed media piece,
using dress maker patterns and handmade papers.
After turning it several times, I've settled on the original horizontal direction
and titled it...
The below piece I was pretty sure how it was going...
circles on the left and mostly made with my handmade papers.
Though once I added in all the details...I gave it a whirl.
Each direction gave me a different take on the compostion.
I settled on this one (I think)...

Fabulous.. I'm so glad you have found a way to interpret your assemblages into painted pieces... both ways are strong and clear. I love the compositions and colors. (-:
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Carole, I feel like I've found my niche...and love for putting colors and shapes together intutively. I'm also trying on and exploring new color palettes...navy blue is not one of my usuals...but I'm liking it! I love that you always peek in on my progress with such wonderful encouragement. 🙏🏼
