Community...

The importance of finding your tribe.

Finding your tribe should never be underestimated!
Your tribe will nurture a sense of purpose, support and encouragement,
a reason to interact with others and enjoy a sense of loyalty and fulfillment.

I've been lucky in finding my tribe(s).
Both times they just magically showed up just when I needed them,
and had put the energy out there that I was ready to belong.

The first time was roughly 16 years ago when I met
Carole Mayne and the "Art Girls" as we so lovingly refer to ourselves.
Above are only a few of us, though we all keep in touch and have random
creative get togethers throughout the year...
and it always feels like we just saw each other yesterday...its a tight tribe!

Tribe girls Betsy & Linda were looking to explore the abstract side of art
and invited me to come along...I did so reluctantly!
Didn't want to travel out of north San Diego County all the way down
the 20 miles to this class they had found at...

To make a long story short (and I can stretch out a story)...
I now drive down three days (sometimes more) a week for classes,
inspiration, friendship, brush strokes, laughter, community...
I've found my tribe...again!

Today's blog post was inspired by the Abstract Painting class that I was in Friday morning.
So many talented artists, so willing to share their work, ideas and encouragement.
So much color and diversity in styles...so much laughter and fun.

I read recently...
Finding your tribe gives you a sense of belonging and you will know it innately, the same way you know when you taste something delicious.  Finding your tribe is rich food for the soul.
I left class filled up and inspired.

Below is a lesson project students have been painting on as a group for weeks...
a collaborative, many layered, ever changing learning process...
we are all loving it!

Kate Ashton is the matte medium that holds us all together!
She shows us a new way to see our art, how to stretch our ideas,
how to help each other become better artist.  She's funny, warm, talented...
and above all else...
Kate knows how to bring together a tribe.

She has created an art center focused on community where artists truly
do come to grow, both artistically and as a community.

Being part of a tribe you click with will enrich your life and fill it with positivity.

What are you waiting for?
If you haven't found, are looking for or thinking about finding your tribe...
join that class, book club, workshop you've been thinking about.

They have a spot for you and are waiting for you to show up!
