Mixed Media Board Series

The Joys Of Working In A Series

I started out this "Sheltering In Studio" with a stack of about 45 12"x12" x1/4" plywood boards I had cut at Dixiline and gessoed or put a coat of venetian plaster on.  I've challenged myself to have all of them turned into small paintings by the time we all start coming out again, and have them all hanging on the large wall in my studio....so far I have 12 done!  I better get busy!

This set of 4 "Whats Bugging Me" started out as a demo I did for an Art On 30th
live Facebook post.
You can see me get started on them here on my YouTube channel.

I finished them off with painting in the video below...not to worry...
its speeded up and will only take 8 minutes.

These 8"x8" are the final four paintings in this series titled,  "Whats Bugging Me"

I love working on small panels 4 at a time...it gives you time and space to move around and not get tied up in knots over one painting...you can move onto the next with ease.  Once I have them all done, I'll cut and construct small boxes to add to the backs to create a floater frame to hang them right up on the wall...a perfect ending.

There's more...
I just finished this series "Conversations Over Coffee" and posted them in the
7 Day "Big Q" challenge over at Ashton Gallery's FaceBook page this week.
It was fun to see what everyone else was posting as well.

I'm still working on the four below...
I just have to get in there and mess them up a bit, let things go,
bring other elements forward... they aren't quite ready to call done.

I look forward to revisiting them with brush and marking tools in hand this weekend.

No mater what your surface is...boards, canvas, cardboard, paper bags, watercolor paper...
try working in a series and see how you like it and how it frees you up to create even more!

All pieces are for sale ... leave a messge in my commetns and
I'll get right back to you.

Enjoy the process!
