I'm making technical progress...woohoo!

PROGRESS...
feels so darn good!

As you may remember a few weeks ago I was distressing over
online presence here.

As we know though...in business today...and going forward...
online presence is crucial!

I'm torn about it...
like the creativity it offers vs hate the time it eats up
happily painting vs struggling with technical details.

I do however have to set up a new web & blog site
since my iWeb site is going bye bye
(Apple let it fall to the wayside)

After hours of searching for the right themes
reading through tutorials
taking baby steps forward and giant steps back...
yesterday afternoon I finally felt like I'm headed in the right direction...
I was elated!

Like I said though...baby steps.

I do have a current site for both blog & web Here,
so I can take a little time to figure it all out
tweak it along the way
slow down and enjoy the process!

I do have three creative offerings
and I'm looking to streamline and include all of them into one site

Collected and hand crafted home decor
for my two retail spaces
Leaping Lotus & Urban Barn

Vintage hankies and the pillows I make with them
for my online shop at Etsy

Murals, faux finishes, decorative painting
I've done over the last 25 years
as a decorative artist in Southern California

Though it is time consuming to be sure,
it's also kinda fun when you have a light bulb moment
and finally get it...
only to move onto the next challenge!

For now I'm happy to
have settled on WordPress
found great themes with Elegant Themes
(see links above)
and a gal from the UK who has great YouTube videos
she walks you through step by step
(forget books, I'm a visual learner)

Once I got that all under my belt
I loaded a theme and got to picking out background for my new site.

I'll be working on this for awhile
in between painting.

I'm sure I'll be posting my joys and tears
throughout the process...
though I like the challenge and the learning,
the creativity and accomplishment ...

and know if all else fails I've found a few good
resources for backup,
to just do it for me!

Trying to
 ENJOY!

  1. I feel your pain. Painting all day and coming home to work on technical things...exhausting!!! I have wanted to start a blog for awhile now, but didn't know where to start. I also didn't have the energy to research. You are inspiring me. I will (in my spare time) have to watch that video. Off to paint.......have a great day and Happy Painting!

    1. The blog is actually pretty easy Kelly, not to mention fun and creative. If you start one, may I suggest doing WordPress or using a platform where you can have your blog and website all in one spot...that what's eating up my time now...moving my website over to WordPress.
That being said...I JUST WANT TO PAINT! It's what I love and what I'm good at...too bad we have to be cyber to get the word out there. I did just meet a gal who just finished school for graphic design and has offered to help...could it be kismet? We'll see.
Thanks for commenting Kelly, always nice to chat with you.
