Inspiration
Sometimes its right in front of you, all around you, even tucked inside a drawer.
I've been pretty busy in my studio lately...working on projects and paintings for clients.
I feel so blessed and excited for being able to create and paint for a living, and I have wonderful clients who provide me with some
pretty interesting and diverse artistic commissions.
Though I'm personally having a little creative blockage when it comes to my own art.
Maybe block is a strong word none of us like to utter...
distracted with other work is more like it.
I discovered I didn't need to look any further than my own studio for a little inspiration.
I think we all have personal projects we've worked on to explore and experiment with
different techniques, ideas and mediums.
It was perfect timing to come across a few while tidying up the studio this week.
Inspiration...
A set of 70 playing cards I turned into mini mixed media and collage pieces last year,
each with a different word prompt. These are perfect to pull out a card and be inspired to
see it a different way and create a bigger piece using that particular word or technique.
Inspiration...
Many 5x7 cards using collage to create a message.
I can certainly expand on these...maybe even use them as set ups for paintings.
Inspiration...
I have three art journals I've got good starts on...with lots of ideas germinating in them...
just waiting for me to take action!
Sometimes the very thing we are searching for is right in front of us!
I think we just get so used to it being there it blends into the background,
we just need to look a little closer to bring the ideas we worked out in
journals, cards, scraps of paper...back into focus.
Now that I'm feeling a little less stuck...
I'll get my paints out...
...along with a few more supplies...
...its time to get my hands dirty!
Feeling inspired...
What do you do to get creatively unstuck?
Hi Denise, what a great article. We think it helps in any endeavor to find new ideas to just throw something out there and see what happens. It's hard to write a blog and keep it interesting, but we love yours. Always inspiring us.We have to keep searching for whatever makes us curious and happy, then we can find our niche. Not as easy as it sounds. Thanks for the tips! See you soon, Bonnie
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Bonnie for popping in and commenting...I know we've all been there...no matter what we're up to. I was almost ready to stop blogging actually...and then my daughter in law Lucinda encoutaged me to keep it up. With comments like yours...I'm glad I did. And I love your "curious and happy" take on it...so true! Thanks Bonnie.👩🏻🎨
DeleteDenise, I think we all go through it, you know the making without connection sometimes. But push through it, it is still there and one day you will wake up to full color again. It's only a pause but so glad 70 Days were there to gently present inspiration, yours, in a neat box full of creative love!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Kelly for the inspiring words, work and the 70 Days. Who knew a year later I'd refer back to that fun challenge. I think we should embrace the pauses and enjoy them...it may be what keeps us balanced! Thank you again!
