What's Inspiring Me...

Sometimes I think I should stick to a style...
figure out what I want to paint and create...
find my own style and...
stick to it!

 What if...
my style is jumping around and trying new things?
I wrote about this dilemma in a blog post about
Make sure to check out the Ted Talk video at the bottom of that post
for an explanation of Multipotentialite and see if you can relate.

If you're like me, you can't help but be inspired by art and the artists who create it...
even better when they offer online workshops and tutorials to share their process.
Trying new techniques helps to form the basis of what your own
artistic expressions will morph into.

Here are five painters, mixed media artist who are inspiring me now...
check them out and see if you get inspired too.

Check out Jane's YouTube tutorials and online workshops
HERE

I love her use of color, cut out papers, printing...everything about what she teaches.

You might notice the opening three pieces in this post were inspired by the following artist,
and done when I got together with my art girls for a day of art play.

Mixed Media & Cold Wax

I love the whimsy and art play in Dianna's work...it makes me so happy.

I'm really intrigued by Misty's portrait style...especially loving those little birds.

I enjoy Jessica's use of the palette knife and how beautifully
expressive and calming her art is.

Once again...for a gal who mostly wears black and white...I am draw to Lynn's colors
and wonderful looseness of painting, scraping and mark making.

So there you have it...lots to be inspired by.
Why not get out your papers, paint, crayons, chalk...whatever...
start to play and have fun.

If you need even more inspiration...YouTube is such a great treasure trove of
inspiring artist, willing to share their knowledge and get you started.

  1. These are all fantastic artists! I am particularly interested in learning more about palette knife work. I seem to use my palette knives more frequently, just to create a sharp edge here and there. I wasn’t sure if the 5th one from the top was yours or not. I’ve been told that whenever, wherever I post any of my art, whether it be a WIP, or a completed piece, the following info should ALWAYS be posted with the image. TITLE, MEDIUM, SIZE (HxWxD), ©️2018 Denise Cerro.
So many artist just surf the web for whatever images they want to use, without checking to see if the photo used requires a photo credit, which is a good thing to do, or email them and ask permission.
I do love seeing the way you morph one ‘exercise’ into another, and they all have your stamp on them-I can pick your work out of a line up! Thanks for exploring and sharing! Xo!
