Vision Board

What's your vision?
Have you taken the time to explore and ask the question?

My friend and fellow artist, Lucinda Walker, and I have been going through, studying and following the prompts in this thought provoking book together over the last few months...long distance...she in Austin Texas, me in Encinitas California.  As you may have also experienced, it's more effective to work through processes with a partner who keeps you accountable, while also supporting your answers and realizations...its been a wonderful collaboration!

We've had many "ah-ha" moments while working through these steps...some of them surprising, some funny, some that make us go hummmm.  We've been having weekly phone conversation about our assignments to discuss what we each came up with personally through the exercises in the chapter.  The chapter we've spent the most time on is Step 4...

Own Who You Are!

Without getting too lengthy about this step, or the book (and we highly recommend the book)...we came up with our own version of owning who we are.  It is not about setting goals to get to who you want to be...its about owning your authenticity, who you already are and always have been...and how to get back to that self now.  Blowing up the box and discovering who we are not, defining our driving forces and writing your own manifesto was a very powerful step for us both.

Manifesto: a written statement declaring intentions, motives, or views of the issuer.

How do we want to spend our precious time on the planet?  This is our lives, and we get to decide what's in store of us.  Since we've both been working on our art careers...vision boards were the perfect answer to creating our manifesto's in visual form.  We each now have vision boards hanging in our studios, to remind us of who we are and what's important to us.

For me, in order of importance...

#1.  Classes and Learning...
fulfills my creative nature and expands my knowledge and curiosity,
while bringing me into contact with like creative minds.

#2. Friends & People...
people in my life who inspire and lift me up, who I laugh with and learn with,
about art, life and love.

#3. Painting and Art...
creating art in a quiet and clutter free space,
where I am free to explore what I've gleaned from #'s 1 & 2.

It's not surprising that my partner in this process had the same realizations as I did...
albeit in different order...but I'm happy to say...birds of a feather do soar together!

Lucinda is most successful when she...
#1.  incorporates a creative practice into her life and work.
#2. remains openminded and willing to learn and experience new things.
#3.  opens up to honest sharing and compassion to others.

To Lucinda success is, recovering our higher selves,
and coming back to who we truley are.

Have you rediscovered your life vision...who you are, who you came here to be?
If not, if you need a little nudge...gather with a like minded friend(s)...pick up a copy of

and have fun doing the work!
We think you'll be very happy you did.

ENJOY!
