Getting ready for the show...

Art Walk Liberty Station

I've always enjoyed going to the Art Walk events in San Diego...
Little Italy, Liberty Station and Carlsbad....
this time around I'm stepping up to show my art at the event in Liberty Station!

Big move for me and I'm pretty excited about it.  My long time friend, ceramic artist Phil Haness, nudged me into joining him in showing our art this year...and I went for it!  We got our spaces right next to each other so we can have support and company close by...hopefully we'll be too busy to need it!

Getting down to the deadline keeps an artist pretty busy.  First choosing the pieces you plan on showing...keeping colors and themes cohesive and limited.  Having too much art, too many colors, too many styles can be overwhelming and distracting.

So...I've been going through and pulling out 12 of my strongest pieces, keeping the above mentioned in mind.  I have two 10' walls to work with, one will be my new Payne's Gray color palette (mentioned in an earlier post here), the other will be my more vibrant palette.

Once I decided on the selection, getting pieces framed was up next.  Fortunately there is a wonderful framer at Art On 30th who does a fabulous job creating frames for us...I completely depend on Kirstin Robers for getting the job done, beautifully and on time!  I stick to a simple light, natural frame so my framed pieces are consistent and the frames don't distract from the art.

I still have a few pieces to finish up, its a must to have small pieces for purchase...
affordable and they provide everyone the opportunity to own a piece of original artwork.

If you can make it to Liberty Station next weekend, August 10 & 11...
come find me in space 222 and Phil in 220...
we will love to see you!

I'm also giving 10% from my art sales to Art Reach for kids.
A great program that you can find out more about at
