Mothers Day is close and flowers are all in bloom...

I'm thinking that is no accident and maybe why we associate the two so perfectly. 

Mothers Day is bittersweet this year...not unlike last year.  My Mom has been gone for 16 years and still missed...all the time.  Along with that, my son is living in Amsterdam, and we haven't been able to see each other going on two years with the shut down...another Mothers Day missed.

I do hold dear so many wonderful memories of growing up with my Mom and my Grandmother.  My Grandmother was the flower inspiration for me in so many ways, always working in the garden and keeping our yard full of vibrant and colorful flowers.  My sister and I owe our love of flowers, gardening and crafting to my grandmother, and our love of art to my mother, who was also an artist and proudly passed that on to us.

Funny story...when we were kids, along with our three brothers, we would collect flowers from the cemetery gravesites on our way home from playing outdoors, and bring them home to Mom!  We didn't know this wasn't a good thing, and Mom wasn't quite sure where we were getting the flowers...until we came home with a glass block that held a statue of the Mother Mary in it...dead give away where that came from!  She explained to us why we couldn't do that anymore and had us return it to the rightful gravestone.  I'm surprised we weren't haunted for that!
