My Koi pond got covered up with a rug.
Way back in May of 2012 I gave our front walkway a tropical entrance
and painted a very long, dimensional Koi pond...I blogged about it here.
We have loved it over the past five years,
as have friends and neighbors who came to visit and "wade" up to our front gate.
Though as you can see from the photo below we have taken a toll on our pond
by hosing it down, walking across it, dragging the green bin over it when we garden...
just life here at home in our garden.
Upkeep of this faux Koi pond has taken place every year with a
little painting touch up...and this year I decided to do away with the pond for a simpler design.
After scrapping off any loose paint...primer and concrete paint went over it in preparation
for a new rug runner design.
The faux bricks on the side of the Koi pond will stay
as the floor for the rug to rest on.

A rug runner seemed a simpler pattern, and hopefully easier to keep up.
I did end up doing a little more hand detail than planned (what else is new)...
though was pretty happy with a
different kind of tranquility the entrance now offers up.
I'll miss my Koi...
and happy with the rug all at the same time.
Till the next change...happy summer design of 2017 for this entrance.
Hope your summer projects went well too.
I saw this before but didn't comment-how unlike me!! I miss the koi, too, but this is really fresh and looks great! Well done! Xo
