I have a stash in my studio of paintings from the past...
sometimes hard to let go of.
sometimes hard to let go of.
These are three of those paintings and I just
recreated them into something different.
A Do Over
This do over was created on the painting above, actually a printed transfer of
flowering bulbs. It wasn't one of my works of art, I bought it from an import store because
I liked that it was on burlap, with plaster and then the printed transfer...
and it was only $5.00.
So I used it as a base for a mixed media piece
and did a little YouTube tutorial on how I did it.
(I still have some work to do on my YouTube videos...another learning curve...
fun and frustrating.)
The painting under the texture below was actually a painting I did
in a still life class almost 10 years ago.
I sold it in a garage sale for next to nothing and last year (believe it or not)
it turned up in my favorite thrift store! It found me, I had to buy it back.
I added some texture to it with plans on more, and then abandoned it...again!
I came across it this week and did a little do over...
Double Standard
is it's new title...and I'm loving it again.
This started out as a sample painting for a clients abstract painting.
I later added lips to it and kinda forgot about it.
Here it is now after it's do over...
I love everything going on here.
So...the moral of the story...
embrace your art hoarder-ness.
Don't throw it away, it may find its way back to you.
And if it does...make it "Do Over Art."
I actually found it more freeing to work on these pieces as
I wasn't so attached to the outcome...
and ended up enjoying the process and loving what they became.
I hope you'll take a second look at some of your older art
and give it a new life ...
we all need a Do Over every now and again.
