A Continuation Of Last Weeks Lessons...
Last week I shared a new direction, new work and finding inspiration to move forward with my painting...
this week was diving in a little deeper.
I was invited to do a paint demo for the Rancho Santa Fe Art Guild this week and found it a perfect opportunity to try out a few of the new techniques I've been playing with. The group was very engaged and especially excited to see all the layers of papers I used to activate my canvases...only to paint over most of them! It's hard to let go, especially when you fall in love with papers, but often times the best thing to do for a better painting. I was happy though, to leave some of the papers peeking out from behind the painted surface.
I was even encouraged to change up the painting below that I had done last year, using a few of the techniques I've been exploring. All it took was a little extra color, flowers and a few graphic lines...much better.
The weekend is now here, and I have two more canvases covered with papers and ready for paint...
I'm excited to work on these and see what I uncover and cover up!
I'm loving the negative printed birds that showed up in this piece of paper printed on my Gelli plate and excited to see where that leads. A little more curious as to how the head on the canvas below will work into a painting ...hummmm.
I also have another artist I came upon that I really love the line work in his paintings...
Simple and refreshing...
always something to delve into and keep on learning.
